Your plan starts the moment your eSIM first connects to a local network in your destination country—not when you buy it. If you activate at 10:00 a.m. local time, a 1-day plan ends at 10:00 a.m. the next day; multi-day plans work the same (days × 24 hours). You may install the eSIM beforehand, but wait to enable it until you’re at your destination to maximise validity.

Yes. Purchase an additional plan in your Lumisim account and attach it to your existing eSIM. The extension takes effect immediately (or queues per Lumisim’s system). If you know you’ll need more time, it’s simplest to buy a plan that covers your whole trip up front.

At the moment, Lumisim eSIMs are data-only and do not include a local mobile number. This means you cannot make or receive traditional voice calls or SMS messages directly through the eSIM. However, you can use internet-based apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Skype, FaceTime, and others to stay fully connected for calls and messaging.

Coming soon: we are working on adding the option to include a mobile number with your Lumisim eSIM. This will allow you to make and receive regular calls and to send and receive SMS texts, giving you the full functionality of a standard SIM card in addition to data connectivity.

Yes — personal hotspot is supported. Be mindful that heavy hotspot use consumes data quickly and may count towards fair-use thresholds. For smooth sharing, enable Personal Hotspot (or Mobile Hotspot) in your phone’s settings and set a password, then connect your laptop or other device.

Recent iPhones (XR/XS and newer, including iPhone 15/16), Google Pixels (3 and newer), and many Samsung Galaxy models (S20+ and newer; selected earlier models) are compatible. Check your device settings for “Add eSIM” / “Add mobile plan”. Your handset must also be network-unlocked.
